Sentry Roof Services Celebrates 35 Years in Business!
It’s hard to believe that it’s been 35 years since my family started Sentry Roof Services.
The company wasn’t named Sentry Roof Services at the time — and the name is just one of many things to have changed since we first opened our doors on October 21, 1982. I look forward to sharing some of those changes with you in this blog over the next several months…from our company’s name change to the evolution in commercial roofing materials and processes to the transformation of the role roofing contractors play when partnering with clients for roof asset management.
Some changes we’ve made within the company recently include hiring some excellent people for leadership positions.
Over the past couple of years we have added a half dozen people in executive and operational management roles and about as many people in administrative, accounting and sales roles. We’ve also added many field technicians, some of whom we brought on specifically to work on projects at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. I am glad to have every one of them on board. (And, in case you’re wondering, yes, we are hiring right now.)
Our 35th anniversary arrives while we’re busy with new projects. For example, we’re just starting a new project at the airport, having re-roofed the terminal and control tower in 2016 and Concourse E in 2017, and are working on industrial and commercial roofing projects for other existing clients and referral clients. We are also doing quite a bit of steep slope work this season. You can see the projects we’re currently highlighting here.
I’m also happy to report that last month we were able to quickly service the hundreds of customers whose roofs needed attention related to Hurricane Irma. We regularly complete hundreds of service calls each week but during that week our service crews were especially busy!
In early 2018 we will be moving to a new location in Peachtree Corners — we have definitely outgrown the one we’ve been in on S. Berkeley Lake Road in Norcross for 10 years. We’ve taken over adjacent office space to make due in the meantime. We’re excited about the move and will post a picture of the new building once we get our sign up.
Of all the things that have changed over the past 35 years, one thing that hasn’t changed is the way we do business. We focus on a partnership approach — to us, this means we do not try to talk anyone into something they don’t need. Rather, we help them get the highest level of roof performance they can in the ways that make the most sense for their property and business goals. There’s often a range of approaches and options a roofing contractor can recommend — we like to present those options, along with the pros and cons, so our customers can make informed decisions.
I would like to thank our entire Sentry Roof team for their outstanding work and commitment. We look forward to another 35 years in business…or more!
